Rigor and elegance

At its best, design is rigorous in process and elegant in outcome. This idea is the foundation of D&CO’s practice and reflected in all that we do.

The design process is complex. Yes, it takes inspiration and intuition, but it also takes time and discipline. D&CO believes in the power of good design and we hold ourselves to the highest standard. We strive for the bold, elegant, modern, and memorable. In 2013, D&CO created a firm-capabilities book series for an internationally-recognized urban design and planning firm, CKS/Chan Krieger Sieniewicz.

D&CO has worked on many wonderful branding projects over the years but GlenPharmer Distillery is one of my absolute favorites for three reasons. One – it’s my brother’s business and I am a co-owner. Two – it’s a fantastic design by Design & Co. Senior Designer Bridget Stone. Three – it’s a distillery!

Print collateral is often not a primary way for companies to reach audiences, which is reflected in the fact that we design more digital experiences than printed material. Yet, the tactile pleasure of holding a well-designed and elegantly printed piece continues to surprise. Indeed, receiving a printed brochure or even a postcard can feel like a gift in our digital-saturated world. This brochure for LeMessurier is one such piece and is a continuation of our ongoing work with the firm.

Someday we will meet again face-to-face, and not on Zoom. We may even exchange business cards! The discipline of logo design and the related design of a business card is one that we still cherish. Our logotype for Reed Hilderbrand remains a favorite. Modern, memorable and timeless.
