Strategy-led design

Client engagements begin with an all-important Discovery. We believe in a deep exploration of each client’s unique culture, approach, and value proposition. These four images illustrate how D&CO’s strategy-led design process helps us better understand clients, leading to distinct design solutions that build brand success.

We often work with clients to uncover and articulate their mission and values. After completing this process with Ironwood Pharmaceuticals, we promoted the idea of using their core values in their physical space rather than having them exist solely on their website or intranet. The result is a statement to both employees and visitors of their commitment to nurturing a value-based culture. At its best, brand strategy does just this. It helps companies understand how they are unique and the underlying values that drive their success.

I love the Akebia website not just for its responsive design, distinct logo, candid photography or that Akebia’s core values rotate on the homepage. I love that each element contributes to a brand expression that perfectly reflects the company’s ethos and mission.

We were thrilled to work with J.H. Lynch & Sons on a corporate rebrand and website. As someone who has worked with a wide range of A/E/C clients, this was our first project with a heavy infrastructure construction firm. The discovery process uncovered a culture of caring in a family business that spanned three generations. Using drone video and still photography, we captured the beauty and detail of bridges, bike trails, and roadways, from birds-eye view to ground level. Messaging was as critical as imagery to communicate the firm’s culture and capabilities.

Since we initially branded Adimab in 2007, D&CO has designed two websites and seven JP Morgan cable car campaigns for this highly successful biotechnology firm. Working with a client over time provides an opportunity to build a brand as a company evolves and grows. This image shows one of our campaigns for the 2011 JP Morgan Healthcare Conference in San Francisco. The campaign showcases Adimab’s partnerships and novel technology platform with bold color and provocative headlines.
